FAQ
Q: Is a wooden lighter case a fire hazard?
A: No. Each case is coated with a heat-resistant resin, making it completely safe to use. In fact, the outer shell of a Bic lighter is made from plastic, so a wooden case poses no more fire risk than the lighter itself.
Q: Are your lighter cases made from real wood?
A: Yes. Every case is made from 100% genuine wood.
Q: Will your cases fit large Bic lighters?
A: Our cases are designed to fit the standard Bic lighter size — approximately 3" x 1". (Lighter not included.)
Q: Do you sell ones that fit mini Bic lighters?
A: No I do not.
Q: Are the lighter cases truly handmade?
A: Absolutely. Every step — from cutting and sanding the wood to staining, etc — is done by hand. The handmade process ensures exceptional quality but is time-intensive; as with most handmade items, the price reflects this.
Q: Are the bottoms closed or open?
A: Each case has a closed bottom and is open only at the top.
Q: How are the lighter cases made?
A: The exact process is a trade secret, but we can tell you this — they’re made right here in our garage workshop in Southern Indiana. Proudly Made in the USA.
Q: What name will appear on my credit card statement?
A: Your statement will show “LIGHTERCASE” or “WOODLIGHTERCASE.” On the website checkout page, you’ll see my business name, Wood Lighter Cases, LLC.
Q: My lighter fits loosely in the case — what should I do?
A: This is rare, but to achieve a snug fit, wrap a layer or two of masking or painter’s tape around your lighter before placing it in the case.
Q: My lighter feels too tight in the case — what should I do?
A: Rub a small amount of wax or bar soap on the lighter and gently slide it in.
Q: Is your payment processing secure?
A: Yes. All payments are processed through Shopify’s secure servers. You can learn more about Shopify’s security on their official website.
Q: How long will it take to receive my lighter case?
A: Turnaround time is typically about 2-4 business days although can be longer during peak seasons such as Christmas before it reaches the carrier, USPS. Then typically 2-5 days in transit.
Q: I don’t like the high-gloss finish — can I change it?
A: This is extremely rare, but yes. If you prefer a satin finish, gently rub the surface with #600 sandpaper or wet/dry 0000 steel wool, working with the wood grain. Wipe clean, then apply carnauba wax and buff with a soft cloth.
Q: What countries do you ship to?
A: At this time, I only ship domestically within the United States. Previously, I have shipped internationally, and may again. Over the years, I have previously shipped to 36 different countries before covid.
