At Wood Lighter Cases, LLC, craftsmanship is more than a skill — it’s been a tradition since 2012.

My journey began over 30 years ago, in 1990, in Northern Minnesota. Friends taught me how to create lighter cases from the bark of fallen birch trees, and I was instantly drawn to the process. When I returned to Southwest Minnesota, I shared my handmade pieces with friends, who loved them so much that several were sold immediately. At the time, I had no idea this early passion would eventually grow into a business.

In February 2012, while looking for a hands-on hobby that combined creativity with my background in woodworking, I revisited the idea of crafting lighter cases. Having worked in wood truss manufacturing for 12 years, I knew the value of precision, durability, and fine craftsmanship. Before investing fully, I placed a small ad to test the market — and the response was overwhelming. Orders came in not only from individuals but also from a local store eager to carry my products.

That enthusiasm inspired me to formally launch Wood Lighter Cases, LLC. Each case is still handmade with care, using only high-quality materials made in the USA to ensure they last for years. With millions of Bic lighters in use worldwide, I take pride in offering a product that is as functional as it is unique — perfect for personal use or as a thoughtful gift.
